As a Dental Lab Technician, you will be trained by our Laboratory Manager to construct both partial and full dentures, fabricate crowns and bridges, and manufacture both fixed and removable appliances to help correct dental irregularities. You will follow the dentists’ instructions and dental impressions to make prostheses, dental appliances and wax replicas as necessary.
JOB DUTIES, TASKS & SKILLS:
- Construct both partial and full dentures to replace partial or total loss of natural teeth
- Fabricate crowns and bridges
- Manufacture both fixed and removable appliances to help correct dental irregularities
- Fabricate prostheses dental implants
- Follow instructions prostheses, dental appliances, and wax replicas
- Keep detailed records, forms, logs, and reports to document actions
- Maintain supply inventories and keep equipment in operating condition
- Study, evaluate, and re-design processes to improve quality of care
- Follow company policies to ensure proper discretion and procedures are used
- Working with plaster, wax, porcelain, plastic, gold, and other metals.
- Using hand tools for carving and shaping, and electric drills, presses, lathes, and high-heat furnaces for completing dental pieces.
- Good vision and color sense.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Excellent manual dexterity and visual acuity required.
- Artistic aptitude for detailed and precise work.
- Stay up-to-date on dental laboratory technician knowledge by furthering education, reading professional publications, talking with peers, and joining professional groups and forums
REQUIREMENTS:
- Exposure to hazards to eyes, lungs, and other body parts.
- Exposure to chemicals and potentially hazardous materials.
- Must wear protective equipment (e.g., goggles, gloves, masks) to protect eyes, handle hot objects, or to avoid inhaling dust
- Strong reading comprehension and critical thinking a must
- Proven time management skills
- Ability to conduct tests and inspect products for quality and performance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to keep detailed records
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma
- No previous experience required; we are willing to train the right person
- Certification by the National Board for Certification, National Association of Dental Laboratories preferred but not required
