Position Overview

Florida Prosthodontics is a multi-specialty dental practice in Rockledge, FL seeking skilled Registered Dental Assistants to support a busy surgical and restorative schedule. We are hiring for both temporary/PRN coverage and full-time, benefits-eligible roles.

The ideal candidate is an experienced chairside assistant who is comfortable supporting complex prosthodontic and oral surgery / implant procedures, is precise with digital records and imaging, and helps deliver a calm, professional experience for patients undergoing advanced treatment.

Key Responsibilities

Chairside & Clinical Support

•     Provide four-handed chairside assistance during restorative and surgical procedures, anticipating the doctor’s needs throughout each case.

•     Prepare and turn over operatories: set up trays and instruments, maintain a clean and stocked surgical field, and ensure timely room readiness between patients.

•     Take and record vital signs and medical histories; review health information and flag concerns prior to treatment.

•     Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients and answer routine questions within scope.

Prosthodontics Support

•     Assist with crown & bridge, veneers, inlays/onlays, and full-mouth rehabilitation cases.

•     Assist with complete and partial dentures and implant-supported prosthetics, including try-ins, deliveries, and adjustments.

•     Fabricate temporary/provisional restorations and assist with cementation and bite registration per state scope and certification.

•     Take and pour impressions, fabricate and trim study models, and prepare accurate, well-documented lab prescriptions and case tracking.

•     Manage shade selection, photographs, and case communication with the dental laboratory.

Oral Surgery / Implant Placement Support

•     Assist with surgical extractions, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and dental implant placement and uncovering / second-stage surgery.

•     Maintain strict aseptic technique and sterile surgical fields; set up and break down surgical trays and implant kits.

•     Assist with surgical suction, retraction, and irrigation, and monitor the patient throughout the procedure.

•     Prepare and track implant components (fixtures, healing abutments, cover screws, drivers, surgical guides) and maintain accurate inventory and expiration logs.

•     Support IV/oral sedation monitoring within scope, where applicable and certified.

Digital Record Capture & Imaging

•     Expose, capture, and store digital radiographs, including intraoral, panoramic, and cephalometric images (current Florida dental radiography certification required).

•     Operate intraoral scanners and CBCT / cone beam imaging for digital impressions and implant planning workflows.

•     Capture and organize clinical photographs and scans, and link them accurately to the patient record.

•     Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant electronic health records (EHR) and treatment documentation in the practice management software Eaglesoft.

•     Support digital implant planning and surgical-guide workflows in coordination with the doctor and lab.

Sterilization, Compliance & Operations

•     Perform instrument sterilization, processing, and equipment maintenance per OSHA and CDC infection-control standards.

•     Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Florida Board of Dentistry rules, and practice protocols.

•     Monitor and restock surgical and operatory supplies; assist with ordering and inventory management.

Qualifications

Required

•     Prior chairside dental assisting experience, ideally including oral surgery, implant, and/or prosthodontic procedures.

•     Current Florida dental radiography certification from a Board-approved program (required to expose radiographs in Florida; note that Florida does not recognize DANB certification for radiography or expanded functions).

•     Current BLS / CPR certification.

•     Working knowledge of dental terminology, instrumentation, and four-handed assisting.

•     Proficiency with dental practice-management / EHR software and digital imaging systems.

•     Strong attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to stay composed during surgical procedures.

Preferred

•     Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification (Board-approved 20-hour course per Florida Statute 466.024 and Rule 64B5-16.005).

•     Experience with intraoral scanners, CBCT imaging, and digital implant-planning or surgical-guide workflows.

•     Experience supporting IV/oral conscious sedation.

•     Experience with Eaglesoft and CAD/CAM systems.

•     Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

•     Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and assist for the duration of long surgical cases.

•     Manual dexterity and close-vision acuity for precise chairside work.

•     Routine exposure to a clinical environment, including bloodborne pathogens, sharps, and dental materials, with appropriate PPE.
