As a Dental Assistant, you’ll support our dentist with various tasks to ensure each patient’s visit is comfortable, efficient, and successful. From preparing instruments, setting up exam rooms, taking X-rays, and assisting during procedures, you’ll be an important part of our patient care team.
• Prepare for appointments by reviewing charts and setting up rooms before patients arrive
• Assist with patient care, including taking X-rays, applying topical agents, and setting up for various procedures
• Support the dentist during procedures, including passing instruments and helping with four-handed dentistry techniques
• Record patient details like treatment notes and recommendations, and ensure all information is accurate before patient dismissal
• Help maintain a clean and organized workspace by following OSHA protocols, cleaning and reprocessing instruments, and stocking supplies
• Assist with lab tasks and other duties as designated by the supervisor to keep our office running smoothly
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Six months in a dental setting is preferred, but not required—we’re happy to train the right person!
• Certifications: Must obtain CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Maine Dental Radiographer License before achieving “Regular Employee” status
Physical Requirements
• This position involves some physical tasks, such as:
• Assisting with patient transfers and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds
• Sitting for extended periods and performing repetitive movements
• Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) during your shift to maintain safety standards for you and our patients
