Position Title: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)
Location: Broadway Dental Assistant, Merrillville, IN
Employment Type: [Full-time / Part-time]

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have advanced clinical skills, a strong understanding of restorative procedures, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during a variety of procedures
  • Perform expanded functions as permitted under Indiana law, including:
    • Place and finish restorative materials (e.g., composite)
    • Place and contour temporary restorations
    • Remove excess cement from crowns and bridges
    • comfortable adjusting partial and dentures
  • Take and process digital dental X-rays and panoramic (pano) images
  • Assist with digital scanning and chairside CAD/CAM workflows (e.g., CEREC)
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories
  • Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after procedures
  • Provide post-operative instructions
  • Maintain accurate clinical charting and documentation
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards

Requirements (Indiana-Specific)

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current Indiana Dental Radiography Certification required
  • Completion of an Indiana-approved Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) program required
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Knowledge of dental materials, procedures, and terminology
  • Strong clinical and multitasking skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of EFDA experience
  • Experience with digital dentistry (CEREC, intraoral scanning, digital impressions)
  • Familiarity with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
